The attack primarily utilized user Datagram protocol (UDP) packets.UDP is frequently enough used for time-sensitive communications like video streaming and DNS lookups as it doesn’t establish a formal connection before sending‍ data. Unlike TCP, UDP sends ⁤data promptly without verifying receipt.

In a UDP flood attack, attackers send a⁤ high volume of packets to random or specific ports on the target’s IP address. This ⁤flood can saturate the target’s Internet connection or overwhelm its internal resources, making it the largest DDoS attack in history.
