Azotey, Paraguay – A police raid on the Vy’a Pave indigenous community in Azotey, Concepción, resulted in the arrest of a man suspected of cattle rustling and illegal slaughter.
The operation, which took place Saturday afternoon, led to the apprehension of Antonio Ramón Arévalos Santander, 41. Authorities seized two .22 caliber CBC rifles, a blue Motostar motorcycle, and 40 kilograms of beef from a Brangus cow with distinctive markings.
The bust comes amid a nationwide crackdown on cattle theft, a persistent problem in Paraguay.

On the morning of December 13th, Pedro Benítez Duarte, foreman of the Clara Victoria ranch, reported the theft of a valuable bovine. Upon arriving at the scene, police found only the animal’s dismembered remains: legs, head, hide, and offal. Footprints leading away from the carnage pointed investigators towards the nearby vy’a Pave indigenous community.

This incident follows a pattern of cattle rustling in the region, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by ranchers and law enforcement.
“This is a serious crime that not only impacts the livelihoods of ranchers but also threatens the stability of our communities,” said a local official who wished to remain anonymous.

Stolen Beef Recovered, Suspect Arrested in Rural Texas
YBY YAÚ, Texas – A swift response by local authorities led to the recovery of stolen beef and the arrest of a suspect in Yby Yaú, Texas.
Cristino Arce Benítez, a 74-year-old community leader, alerted authorities after noticing suspicious activity at a nearby residence. Accompanied by concerned residents,Benítez approached the home of the suspect,where they discovered bags of meat and a 20-liter bucket filled with what appeared to be beef.
Local law enforcement, led by Fiscal Pablo Zárate of the Special Unit for Combating Cattle Theft, arrived at the scene and confirmed the meat was stolen from a local establishment. The suspect, identified as Arévalos Santander, was taken into custody and transported to the Yby Yaú Police Department.Santander is currently awaiting legal proceedings. The recovered beef was returned to its rightful owner. Authorities also seized a motorcycle and weapons believed to be connected to the crime. These items have been submitted as evidence to the District attorney’s office.
