‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Actor Clarifies Role After Announcement Tease
Updated June 21, 2025
Rob Wiethoff, the actor who plays John Marston in ‘Red Dead Redemption’, has walked back earlier comments suggesting an imminent announcement related to the game. Last week, Wiethoff fueled speculation while livestreaming the original ‘Red Dead Redemption,’ shortly after rumors surfaced about a possible next-gen update for ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ and a Nintendo Switch 2 port. Roger Clark, who portrays Arthur Morgan in ‘Red Dead Redemption 2’, also amplified the tease.
Wiethoff addressed fans on YouTube, clarifying his role and stating, “I do not make announcements for Rockstar Games.” However, he maintained that he still has exciting news to share, though he cannot reveal it yet.The initial tease suggested an announcement by June 20, but Wiethoff confirmed on June 21 that it is indeed delayed.

The actor acknowledged the confusion, stating he “possibly misled some people” with his initial remarks. Despite the clarification, Wiethoff assured fans that the news, when it arrives, will be worth the wait.
“I do have something I’m really excited about. I truly am. And I think you will be, too… But I possibly, uh, misled some people when I announced that I have something to announce that I can’t talk about right now,” Wiethoff said.
Following Wiethoff’s initial tease, fans speculated that the announcement might be linked to a main cast reunion scheduled for the National Gaming Expo in Tampa, Florida, from Aug. 8-10. Though, the lineup for the expo was revealed weeks prior, casting doubt on this theory.
Wiethoff addressed the delay, stating, “It’s coming.Sorry for the delay…Ther are a lot of moving parts. We want to get this right. I think it will be clear why once we’re able to say what’s going on.”
What’s next
While the exact nature of Wiethoff’s announcement remains unknown, fans eagerly await further updates. He assured that he wants to share the news “quickly,” suggesting that an official reveal could be imminent.
