Azerbaijan F1 GP: Verstappen and Others Summoned for Overtaking During Safety Car
Several F1 drivers, including Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, have been called up by F1 stewards following the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
In addition to Verstappen, Nico Hulkenberg (Haas), Esteban Ocon (Alpine), and Pierre Gasly (Alpine) were also summoned to the post-race hearing in Baku.
It is alleged that they overtook under virtual safety car conditions after the checkered flag.
On the penultimate lap of the race, there was a battle for third place between Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.
As a result, the race effectively ended under the safety car, and Oscar Piastri took his second career victory.
Verstappen crossed the line in fifth place, becoming the only stewards’ call-up to finish in the top ten.
