Early on,‌ the ‍Lions struggled with handling errors and missed opportunities. They⁤ conceded the first try when Reds’​ Toomaga-Allen lunged over the ⁢line, followed by a prosperous conversion from⁤ Harry McLaughlin-Phillips. The ‌Lions responded with a try from Freeman, converted by Russell, but ⁤the Reds ​quickly ​struck back with Josh flook‍ scoring after a Kalani Thomas grubber kick, putting the⁣ Reds ahead 12-7.
