From September 19 to 22, the charming municipality of Barichara in Santander, Colombia, will host the 14th edition of Festiver, the Green Film Festival, showcasing the importance of sustainability and conservation through environmental cinema.
A Diverse Cinematographic Selection
This year’s festival features an impressive lineup of 52 films in competition, including 4 national feature films, 12 international feature films, 15 national shorts, 15 international shorts, and 6 animated productions.
According to Nórida Rodríguez, executive director of the festival, “This year’s exhibition is diverse and vibrant, telling stories about wildlife, ecosystems, conservation, and climate change.”
These stories not only reflect the natural wealth of the planet but also the interaction between communities and their environment, highlighting the complexities of human-nature relationships.
Global Participation and Perspectives
The festival will feature the participation of 23 countries, including Colombia, Mexico, the United States, Spain, and many more, offering a broad global representation of environmental issues and solutions.
This diverse lineup enables the public to enjoy a variety of views and approaches to the environmental problems facing humanity. “Fiction, animation, and documentaries of the highest quality offer a global vision of environmental problems and the solutions being implemented,” Nórida adds.
Non-Competition Titles and Special Screenings
In addition to the competitions, the festival program includes four non-competition titles that will enhance the experience of attendees.
Among these special screenings are Colombian documentaries such as “Paramunas, the soul of the mountain” and “The other way,” as well as Uruguayan animation “Where are you from” and a Colombian experimental short film “Hippos in gravitas.” These projections significantly complement the competing works, providing diverse contexts and reflections on the relationship between humans and nature.
