Reel Opportunities: 79 Young Mauritanians Shine at the ‘Film Workshops of the North
Nouakchott International Film Festival Concludes ”North Workshops” Series
The Nouakchott International Film Festival, in collaboration with the National Institute of Arts, successfully concluded the “North Workshops” series in Akjoujt, benefiting 79 young individuals from the states of Dakhlet Nouadhibou, Tiris Zemmour, Adrar, and Inchiri.
Each five-day workshop culminated in the production of a short film, which will compete in the “Workshop Films” competition. Select participants will also receive a “Master Class” under the guidance of professional directors as part of the festival’s activities.
Under the supervision of film director Mohamed Al-Mustafa Al-Ban and cinematographer Mohamed Salem Ould Dendo, the youngsters received intensive training in cinematic professions.
The workshops aimed to promote cultural decentralization and empower youth in the inner regions by providing training opportunities in film-related professions, previously limited to the capital’s youth.
Upcoming Festival
The second session of the Nouakchott International Film Festival is scheduled to take place in October, under the patronage of the Nouakchott region and the Ministry of Culture and Arts. The festival will feature numerous international film stars, with Palestinian cinema as the guest of honor.
