Statements from Organizers
Arq. humberto Salazar, president of the cultural entity, emphasized the importance of reading in contemporary society. He stated that “the reading of a book today is an act of resistance. It requires an effort that is worth it as it activates mental processes that one, in a dispersed way, fails to achieve.” Salazar added, “This May is taken by the lyrics, with activities that cross literature, music and theater, and a diverse offer that includes books for childhoods, adolescents and adults.”
Silvia Camuña, director of letters of the cultural entity, noted that “the Regional Book Fair enables the democratization of access to cultural goods, and contact with the authors of the region.” She further commented, “Reading always produces meaning, and we intend to reach girls, boys, youth and adults with activities, even those who are far from written culture.”
