SALERNO,Italy – The ASL (Local Health Authority) of Salerno has been awarded national recognition for its “Rehability@Home” project,which ranked first in Italy in the “Cascata calls” research initiative. The project focuses on providing remote rehabilitation services to patients with sensorimotor and/or cognitive disabilities.
Funded through the National Plan for Complementary Investments at the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), the Ministry of University and Scientific Research supported the ASL, led by engineer Gennaro Sosto, within the theme of “robotic and technological rehabilitation.” The project received 700,000 euros in funding.
Expanding Territorial Telemedicine Services
The funding will enable the activation of two new territorial telemedicine services in basic health districts n. 60 of Nocera Inferiore and n. 70 of Vallo della Lucania. This expands upon the triumphant implementation already in place in District n. 66 of Salerno,where the first regional telerehabilitation service began in July 2024.
Rehability@Home: Bringing Care to Patients’ Doorsteps
Through Rehability@Home, citizens can receive rehabilitation services in their own homes. This is made possible through network connections with Telemedicine Centers, where specialized operators provide assistance based on individual rehabilitation plans. this innovative model aims to ensure continuity of care, reduce physical barriers, and enhance the humanization of assistance, especially for vulnerable patients and those suffering from chronic conditions.
