The 2024‍ Equestrian ⁤Paralympics features an accurate‍ classification system for⁢ all participating athletes. This system is ‍based on the type and⁢ severity of each individual’s disability, taking ⁢into account motor, neurological, musculoskeletal, and psychological factors. The classification categories are as follows:

  • Category I: Severe disability affecting all limbs and the torso.
  • Category II: Disability affecting the trunk, ‍with normal upper extremity function⁢ or average lower extremity function.
  • Category III: ​Significant weakness in both legs with little or no effect on the⁣ trunk, or ⁣moderate ‍weakness in⁣ the arms, legs, and trunk.
  • Category⁤ IV: Presence of disability in⁢ upper limbs, ⁣moderate​ disability in four ⁢limbs, or small stature.
  • Category V: Visual impairment, ⁤which may lead to total blindness.
