A Reluctant Reflection
Réka Tenki isn’t one to dwell on past successes. She doesn’t re-watch her performances with satisfaction, but rather acknowledges them years later, when the immediacy of the experience has faded. “I haven’t seen myself really good yet,” she admits, a statement born not of false modesty, but of honest self-assessment.
The Alchemy of Performance
For Tenki, the theater is a unique space where chemistry is paramount. A strong connection with the director is essential; without it, a role simply won’t come to life. “At this point, all my cartilage protests,” she jokes, acknowledging the physical demands of her craft. Conversely, a director who understands the power of connection with the audience can unlock a new level of involvement. “I play the way he wants. I constantly transform myself to your expectations.”
The Search for Focus
Tenki expresses a desire for a role where she is truly *seen* - not as just another face, but as the central figure, the focal point of the story. She longs for a collaborative experience with a director who can help her bring a character to life with depth and nuance. As she told Blikk,”I want someone to see the protagonist of his movie once and make the most of each other with the director.”
Beyond the Red Carpet
Despite winning the prestigious Jászai Mari Award, Tenki doesn’t define her life by awards ceremonies or public appearances. She prioritizes authenticity over image, stating,”I have never been classic beauty, but I consider myself a good person, which is perhaps more significant.I classify my talent, not my appearance.”
Inspiration and Authenticity
Tenki draws inspiration from a diverse range of performers, including Monica Bellucci and Jennifer Lawrence – not merely for their looks, but for their talent. She notably admires Tilda Swinton, praising her authenticity and unique presence: “it is authentic, special in all its roles. It is indeed certain that you will not be confused with anyone.”
Tenki acknowledges the fickle nature of the entertainment industry, recognizing that trends come and go. She questions how to capitalize on opportunities when her “type” is in demand, while also preparing for the certain periods of quiet.”I know that many people burn out at this time and are constantly searching for how they could climb back to the top. I also had to learn not to long for things I can’t get.”
A Life Balanced
Tenki consciously balances her professional life with her personal life, particularly her family.Since becoming a mother, she limits herself to one theatrical production per year, typically involving up to ten performances a month – a schedule respected by Theater Director Pál Mácsai.
The Power of Support
A cornerstone of Tenki’s strength and well-being is her husband, Sándor Csányi. “My husband, Sándor Csányi, is a great help, who gives me support to me like no other. He is one of the most positive people in my life who finds the good in every situation and can pull me with a good feeling.” She admits that learning to embrace joy is a continuous process, as she often tempers happiness with a fear of losing it.
