Relive the 90s: The Top 5 Unforgettable Nintendo 64 Games That Still Rule Today
- Whenever I think about this amazing racing game for this amazing console, two things immediately come to mind.
- It's a fantastic racing game, but in my opinion no game in this ultra-popular series can match the magic that version 64 offers.
- The original intention was for Rareware to make an action adventure-oriented game from a third-person perspective, with a focus on stealth and lots of cool 007 gadgets.
5. Race of the Waves 64
Whenever I think about this amazing racing game for this amazing console, two things immediately come to mind. First, I remember all the white plastic dust accumulating around the base of my N64 analog stick after playing Wave Race 64 for a few weeks. Secondly, I remember a letter in my old Missile magazine about this iconic game. Someone wrote to ask if a sequel to Wave Race 64 is on the way, and our editorial team responded He said: “Aren’t 63 elderly people enough?Ha ha. Very childish. Beyond that, it’s fair to say that the game’s water physics and driving feel still haven’t been surpassed and were way ahead of their time.
4. Mario Kart 64
Mario Kart 8 is fantastic, there’s no doubt about it. It’s a fantastic racing game, but in my opinion no game in this ultra-popular series can match the magic that version 64 offers. Four-player split screen, “Battle” Fort levels and all-out four-player action Watching friends chase each other remains one of the best multiplayer experiences ever.

3.GoldenEye007
The original intention was for Rareware to make an action adventure-oriented game from a third-person perspective, with a focus on stealth and lots of cool 007 gadgets. However, as we all know, that didn’t happen. Instead, they looked at iD Software’s PC icon over and over, created the first console FPS game, and rewrote the entire rulebook for the licensed type of game.

2. Super Mario 64
Where would we be, and where would the world of video games be, if it weren’t for Super Mario’s broken debut on Nintendo 64? Of course, it’s hard to say, but there is no doubt that this game today has redefined video games in general, and the platform genre in particular. Lots of charm, lots of character, imagination, colour, clever game mechanics and ideas.
1. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Start by choosing between the adventures of Super Mario or Link, a bit like choosing a favorite between your two children. Impossible. . . Almost. But if a knife was put to the throat and one of these games were to actually win, it should be Hyrulian’s magical N64 adventure that takes home the cake. From the first step up the Kokiri ladder to the Water Temple boss fight to Epona’s ride across the bright green polygon grass, these are some of the best gaming moments ever.
