US President Biden Wears Former President Trump’s Signature Red Hat
(Central News Agency, Shanksville, USA, Broad Foreign News Report on the 11th) US President Biden briefly wore former President Trump’s signature red hat today, saying it was to show a “unity” vision.
Agence France-Presse reported that Biden and vice president and Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris briefly wore the hats while attending a 9/11 memorial in Pennsylvania. United Flight 93 crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Harris will face off against Republican presidential nominee Trump in the November election.
White House spokesman Andrew Bates posted on the social media platform, “As a symbol, he gave his hat to a Trump supporter who said that in the same spirit, (Biden) should also wear a Trump hat. So he briefly wore the hat.”
After the 81-year-old Biden abandoned his re-election bid in July, Harris took over representing the Democratic Party in the race for the White House. Biden has repeatedly cast Trump as an existential threat to American democracy.
Videos and photos of Biden wearing this hat with the words “Trump 2024” quickly went viral on the Internet.
Some commentators noted that the episode occurred the day after Trump and Harris were televised during a prime-time general election debate. Trump told Kamala Harris during the debate yesterday: “Biden hates you.”
The Trump campaign’s Situation Room was also quick to respond, joking on social media that Biden was wearing the hat because ”Harris performed so poorly at last night’s debate.”
Earlier today, Harris and Trump shook hands at the 9/11 memorial in New York.
The two wore blue ribbons to commemorate 9/11 and attended a memorial service with Biden and others.
