Obituary: Glennis Marie (Jacobs) Peterson

Glennis Marie Peterson, 87, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2024, at her home in Naples, Florida. She was surrounded by her family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at First Lutheran Church of Norway Lake in New London, Minnesota. Visitation will occur on Friday, December 6, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home and for one hour before the service at the church. She will be interred in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an organization of your choice. Arrangements are with Johnson Funeral Home.

Early Life

Glennis was born on December 27, 1936, in Graceville, Minnesota. She grew up in Wheaton, Minnesota, as the fifth of six children of Frank and Hilda Jacobs.

Marriage and Family

In 1952, she met Dallen W. Peterson at the West Central School of Agriculture High School in Morris, Minnesota. They married in March 1955 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wheaton, Minnesota. Together, they raised five children.

Faith and Community

In 1969, Dallen and Glennis moved to Omaha, Nebraska. After being baptized as a child, Glennis accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1969, which changed her life. From 1971 to 1977, they opened their home to over 30 people, ensuring everyone felt welcomed and learned about Jesus.

Career

After years in the corporate world, Dallen and Glennis launched a cleaning business called Merry Maids in 1980. It began as a family venture and grew to become the largest franchised cleaning business globally, with over
