Lyon Turns too Descamps for Coupe de France Clash
Lyon, France – Rémy Descamps will get the nod in goal for Olympique Lyonnais this Saturday as they face Feignies-Aulnoye in the Coupe de France.
Head coach Pierre Sage confirmed the decision during Thursday’s press conference, emphasizing the importance of giving all players opportunities.
“I can confirm Rémy will start,” Sage said. ”This was decided from the outset due to the schedule. We want to ensure everyone is prepared, and whoever might replace the starting goalkeeper needs to be ready to perform.”
Descamps, who previously played in the Coupe de France with FC Nantes, helped guide them to the final in both 2022 and 2023. While he started those runs, Alban Lafont ultimately took over in goal for the finals. Last year, Descamps was forced out of the semifinal against Lyon due to an injury sustained in the first half, with Lafont stepping in.
sage, however, remained tight-lipped about the goalkeeper hierarchy beyond this match.
Key Absences for Lyon
Lyon will be without suspended defender Duje caleta-Car for the final match of the calendar year. Nicolas Tagliafico, who is following a modified training schedule along with Nemanja matic, will also miss the trip to the Hauts-de-France region.
Forward Georges Mikautadze, absent from Thursday’s training due to illness, is expected to be available, as is Enzo Molebe, who was excused from Thursday’s session for personal reasons.

lyon will be missing defender Duje Çaleta-Car for the match due to suspension. Nicolas Tagliafico,who is following a modified training schedule alongside nemanja Matić,will also be absent. Though, forward Georges Mikautazde and midfielder Enzo molebe are expected to be available despite missing Thursday’s training due to illness and personal reasons respectively.
