Minneapolis Crime Spree: Four Arrested in Connection to Shootings and Burglaries

Four individuals are in custody following a crime spree in Minneapolis that involved shootings, burglaries and a carjacking. The arrests, announced on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, include a 34-year-old man and three teenagers, according to Minneapolis police.

The incidents unfolded over a two-hour period last week, on February 11, 2025, and included two shootings, two burglaries, and a gunpoint carjacking. One of the shootings occurred when a man was reportedly shot after looking out his window while observing a burglary in progress.

Police initiated a surveillance operation on the February 17th on the 2400 block of Bloomington Avenue, leading to the arrests. A search of a home in the area yielded potential evidence linked to the crime spree, authorities said.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office is now reviewing the case for potential charges. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara released a statement affirming the department’s commitment to holding violent offenders accountable. “The MPD remains steadfast in its mission to hold violent offenders accountable and ensure justice for victims,” O’Hara stated. “Our investigators have meticulously built this case based on evidence and facts, working in coordination with prosecuting authorities, and we are confident all those responsible for terrorizing residents during this violent crime spree are in custody.”

Charges have been filed against two 17-year-old boys and a 19-year-old man. The 17-year-old accused of firing the shots that injured two people faces two counts of second-degree assault, one count of first-degree aiding and abetting aggravated robbery, and one count of first-degree attempt to commit aggravated robbery. Another 17-year-old boy is charged with second-degree aiding and abetting assault and third-degree burglary. Quayzhon Demetrius Lewis, 19, faces two counts of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree burglary, and two counts of first-degree aggravated robbery.

Boyd Hansen, 54, was shot through a window while observing a burglary at a neighbor’s garage on the 4000 block of 25th Avenue South at 5:04 a.m. On February 11th. Court documents detail how the burglars fled in a vehicle, but one of them turned back and fired at Hansen.

The arrests follow the activation of Minneapolis police’s crime response unit in response to the series of violent incidents. The investigation involved reviewing home security footage, including video showing the suspects burglarizing a home before shooting at the neighbor.
