Reno-Tahoe Offers Diverse Entertainment This Week

Reno and the surrounding areas are brimming with activities this week, offering a mix of dance, Disney magic, and literary events for families and individuals alike. From theatrical performances to ice skating spectaculars and book exchanges, there’s something for everyone.

Disney On Ice presents “Let’s Dance!” is a major draw, taking center stage at the Reno Events Center from February 5th through February 8th. The show features Mickey and pals as DJs, remixing favorite Disney tunes into vibrant, colorful worlds. Audiences can expect appearances from characters like Asha and Valentino, Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, Ariel, Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Moana, Maui, and even Stitch, who reportedly takes over as a guest DJ. All guests age 2 and older are required to have a ticket, and costumes are not permitted for those 14 years and older.

Beyond the ice rink, the Reno Little Theater is hosting “The Cottage,” a comedic play running throughout February. The play, described as a nod to Noël Coward and classic sex comedies, follows Sylvia and Beau as they navigate a new chapter in their relationship.

For those seeking artistic experiences, the Wilbur D. May Museum is showcasing the “TOYTOPIA Exhibit,” offering a journey through the history of toys and play. The exhibit, which began on January 21st, includes interactive stations and explores the stories behind beloved toys.

The Brewery Arts Center and Visit Carson City are presenting “Carson City Lights,” an immersive experience featuring 3D projections dancing across the walls of a temporary structure in Mills Park. The event opens on Friday, February 6th and continues with dates throughout the month.

Several other events are scheduled throughout the week. On Thursday, February 5th, the Nevada Museum of Art will host “First Thursday” with musical guest Kingwhistler. The Evelyn Mount Northeast Community Center will host “Dance for All – Valentine’s Dinner and Dance” on Friday, February 6th, an inclusive event designed for adults and teenagers with special needs.

Families with young children can enjoy the Sage Ridge School Winter Book Fest on Saturday, February 7th. Students in grades 1-5 are invited to trade gently used books for new favorites in a cozy, pajama-friendly atmosphere. Also on Saturday, Cupid’s Groove Sweetheart Market & Dance will take place at the Futsol Sports Arena, offering handmade crafts, jewelry, and music from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Event details are subject to change, and organizers recommend confirming schedules with venues before attending. A comprehensive calendar of events can be found online, with additional happenings added regularly.
