Renowned Egyptian Journalist Nafisa al-Saraiti Passes Away at

Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian journalism community is mourning the loss of nafisa al-Saraiti, a respected writer and journalist known for her insightful commentary and dedication to truth. Al-Saraiti passed away on Sunday, leaving behind a legacy of journalistic excellence that will be deeply missed.

Her brother, acclaimed artist Sameh al-Saraiti, announced her passing on Facebook, writing, “To God we belong and to Him we shall return. Mother, dear sister, friend, journalist, nafisa al-Sarti, the pulse of love has stopped after a long journey… and the letters have stopped being published… we ask you to pray.”

Mourners, including many of al-Saraiti’s colleagues, gathered at the Omar Makram mosque in Tahrir Square to pay their respects. Among those present were Khaled Al-Balshi, chief of the Syndicate of Journalists, and prominent journalists and writers Abdel Mohsen Salama, Muhammad Abdullah, and Ahmed Refat.

Following prayers at the Sharbatali Mosque in Fifth Basti, artist Sameh al-Saraiti performed the last rites for his sister.

Al-saraiti’s career spanned decades, during wich she covered a wide range of social and political issues for multiple prominent egyptian publications.

“nafisa had a unique ability to connect with her audience,” saeid Karim Essam, a seasoned media journalist. “Her writing was both intellectually stimulating and deeply personal.She wasn’t afraid to address difficult topics, but she did so with empathy and compassion. She truly believed in the power of words to shape perspectives and inspire change.”

The outpouring of grief at the Omar Makram mosque was a testament to the profound impact al-Saraiti had on her colleagues and the wider media landscape.

“It was a poignant scene,” Essam recalled. “Many prominent figures from the journalism community were present. The grief was palpable, a reflection of the deep respect and admiration nafisa commanded.”

Al-Saraiti leaves behind a legacy of journalistic excellence, integrity, and unwavering commitment to her craft. Her words will continue to inspire aspiring journalists and remind us of the importance of truth and accountability in the media.
