At a‌ firefighting resources gathering site in Uiseong-eup, Uiseong-gun, gyeongbuk Province, three team ⁣members of the Gyeongbuk 119 Special Response ⁢Team described their efforts, saying they are ‍battling cumulative fatigue after seven days of work.‌ The 119 Special Response Team is at the forefront⁣ of‍ rescuing isolated individuals, ​especially in areas challenging for regular firefighters to access. All 69 special rescue‍ members in Uiseong,⁣ Yeongdeok,⁤ and Andong have been deployed.

The Gyeongbuk ⁤119 Special ⁣Response Team, comprised ‍of three teams, is responsible for the ‍Uiseong ⁢area. A 24-hour field presence is standard,‍ with teams working multiple ‌times a day.‍ Kang dae-hyun,​ 33, stated, On ⁢March 25, ⁤we began rescuing isolated crew members at 3:00 ‍p.m. and continued⁢ rescuing residents of Dankon-myeon, Gounsa Temple, ⁤Iljik-myeon,‌ and ⁢Oksan-myeon. He noted the difficulty in reaching Gounsa Temple due‍ to fire and dialog challenges.

Hwang ⁤Si-cheol, 36, added, The fire was so intense that it broke through⁣ the protective gear, and the heat was overwhelming.

The team also ‍successfully⁣ executed a⁤ rescue of private ⁤residents. Hwang Ki-ha, 43, recounted, I⁣ was transferred to firefighting duties⁣ that day, ⁤and the flames quickly spread to the nearby villages of Soho-ri and Mangho-ri, where some ⁣residents were still on the street. ⁤The following day,March 26,the team also ​participated in a helicopter search.

Despite the physical demands,the team members expressed their commitment to completing their missions. ⁣Lee Yun-ho, 35, said, The crews who live and work together are as⁢ close ‌as family. We want to save more ‍residents and colleagues with our teamwork.

Kim Nam-seok,48,the ⁣team leader,acknowledged the challenges: It ⁣is very difficult because we​ are in ‌charge of lifesaving in ‍an surroundings without proper accommodation. Tho, ​residents and fellow firefighters have said, ‘I ⁢was able⁤ to live ‍thanks to it.’
