‘Resident Evil: Requiem’ Offers Dual Perspective Gameplay
Updated June 11, 2025
Capcom’s recently unveiled ‘Resident Evil: Requiem’ at Summer Game Fest will feature a choice of first-person or third-person perspectives. The trailer introduced Grace Ashcroft as the new protagonist, but the camera option remained under wraps until a recent presentation.
The dual perspective feature surfaced briefly during a behind-closed-doors event at Play Days. While most gameplay footage showcased the first-person view, the pause menu revealed the option to toggle between the two perspectives.
This marks a importent shift for the franchise. While past installments have experimented with both first and third-person formats, including a third-person fixed camera,’Resident Evil: Village’ was the only title to offer players a choice via downloadable content. The new feature may appease some critics of ‘Resident Evil 7’s’ initial move to first-person.
The gameplay demo featured Ashcroft in a dilapidated hospital, picking up series staples such as a lighter, screwdriver, and fuse. She soon encountered grotesque creatures, leading to a desperate escape.
Notably absent from the presentation was Leon S. Kennedy. Some fans believe Kennedy may secretly be the game’s main character. Capcom has yet to confirm or deny Kennedy’s involvement.
