Rev Up in Tainan: 22 CNPC Battery Exchange Stations Now Live, Plus a Sneak Peek at the SYM NX1 Electric Supermoto
Taiwan’s China National Petroleum Corp Launches Electric Scooter Battery Exchange Service
Taiwan’s China National Petroleum Corp held an “Electric Scooter Battery Exchange Service Conference” in Tainan City to announce the official launch of the battery exchange service. The company plans to set up 22 battery exchange stations, utilizing soft carbon batteries developed by China National Petroleum Corporation. These batteries boast fast charging speed, with 80% power in 20 minutes, and a cycle life of over 3,500 times.

China National Petroleum Corporation has emphasized the “separation of vehicles and electricity” business model, focusing on battery development while partnering with motorcycle manufacturers like SYM. SYM’s NX 1 electric motorcycle, showcased at the conference, features a square-looking design, square headlights, and 10-inch tires.

The NX 1 has a weight of 168 kilograms, 4 horsepower, and an endurance of 58 kilometers. While the launch of China National Petroleum Corporation’s battery replacement system is promising, it raises questions about the availability of compatible electric vehicles and the future of the battery exchange stations.

The 22 battery exchange stations are expected to support the testing, trial operation, and official operation of China Petroleum’s power replacement system. However, the lack of compatible electric vehicles and the unclear future of the battery exchange stations raise concerns about the initiative’s success.
