Revenue officers at Dublin Airport have seized over 160 kilograms of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of more than €3.1 million in a series of anti-drug trafficking operations conducted over six days, beginning April 18, 2026.
The seizures occurred in four separate incidents involving passengers arriving on flights from Doha, Bangkok, and Thailand. On Saturday, April 18, during routine operations, officers discovered approximately 35.2 kilograms of herbal cannabis concealed in vacuum-packed packages within the baggage of a female passenger in her 30s who had disembarked a flight originating from Doha.
On Tuesday, April 21, with the assistance of detector dog Charlie, Revenue officers seized approximately 68.2 kilograms of herbal cannabis from two male passengers, aged in their 20s and 40s, who had arrived on a flight from Bangkok via Doha. The drugs were found in similar vacuum-packed packaging within their baggage. This single seizure is believed to be worth as much as €1.3 million in the drugs trade.
On Wednesday, April 22, officers seized another 35.2 kilograms of herbal cannabis from the baggage of a female passenger in her 30s who had also flown from Doha. On Thursday, April 23, with the help of detector dog Dara, approximately 21.9 kilograms of herbal cannabis were found in the luggage of a male passenger in his 20s who had travelled from Thailand.
All passengers involved in the four incidents were arrested by An Garda Síochána under drug trafficking legislation and have since been charged. Revenue stated that the operations were part of its ongoing efforts targeting organised crime groups and the importation of illegal drugs.
“These back-to-back seizures highlight the vigilance and professionalism of our officers,” a spokesperson for Revenue said. “We remain committed to protecting the public and disrupting criminal activity at every opportunity.”
The investigations into all seizures are ongoing. The total weight of the seized herbal cannabis exceeds 160 kilograms, with a combined estimated value surpassing €3.1 million.
