Guil Blanche: Thank you for having me. Our vision for downtown São Paulo is to restore its vibrant cultural heritage while enhancing the quality of life for its residents. We want to celebrate the architectural beauty of the 1950s and 1960s, creating a space where people can enjoy artistic expressions and community interactions.
Interviewer: I had the opportunity to visit Edificio Renata, and it’s clear that exciting changes are underway in the Vila Buarque neighborhood. What specific initiatives does Planta have in place to support this revival?
Guil Blanche: Edificio Renata is a prime example of our efforts. We’re focusing on restoring historic buildings, incorporating public art, and creating green spaces. We also aim to support local businesses and artists, making the area not just a destination but a thriving community hub.
Interviewer: Speaking of local artists, the addition of Rebeca Carapiá to Millan Gallery seems to reflect a growing appreciation for contemporary art in these revitalized spaces. How do you see the role of artists in urban renewal?
Guil Blanche: Artists are crucial to urban renewal. They bring creativity and innovation that can transform ordinary spaces into extraordinary experiences. By collaborating with galleries and supporting local talents like Rebeca, we infuse the neighborhood with artistry and narrative. This enriches the cultural tapestry of São Paulo.

Guil Blanche: Lucas and Victor’s works explore themes of silence, memory, and the human experience—elements that resonate deeply within a city undergoing change. Their art invites reflection and connection, which is exactly what we’re aiming for in our revitalization efforts. We want art to be a conversation starter in public spaces.
Interviewer: It seems there’s a harmonious relationship between your efforts and the local artistic community. As you look ahead, what are some of the challenges you anticipate in this revitalization process?
Guil Blanche: One of the main challenges is balancing growth with preservation. We want to bring new developments and investments while ensuring that the historical essence of the area isn’t lost.
