Burkina Faso Introduces Civic Education in Schools
Ouagadougou, September 4, 2024 (AIB) – The government of Burkina Faso has announced plans to reintroduce civic education into the school curriculum, starting from the next academic year.
The decision, outlined in a circular, aims to incorporate civic education into post-primary and secondary general education, as well as technical and vocational education and training.
This move is part of the government’s efforts to introduce new subjects into the education system, as part of its curriculum reform initiative.
History-Geography and French-History-Geography teachers will be responsible for providing civic education, with the hourly volume allocated to the general weekly volume for each History-Geography teacher.
