Apple Unveils the Apple Watch Series 10 with Enhanced Design and Features
Apple recently announced the Apple Watch Series 10, marking the 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch. The new series boasts a slightly larger size, thinner and lighter design, and improved features.
The Apple Watch Series 10 features a new design, with rounded corners and a wider aspect ratio. The product size has increased by 1mm to 42mm and 46mm, while the thickness is 10% thinner than the previous model.
In addition to design adjustments, the bezel has become thinner, and the display area has been enlarged. The screen is 9% wider than the Series 7, 8, and 9 and 30% wider than the Series 4, 5, and 6. Visibility is also improved when viewing the display at an angle, with the screen being 40% brighter when viewed from an oblique angle than its predecessor.
The Apple Watch Series 10 also features improved display power efficiency, with the Always On Display (AOD) mode now updating every second, rather than every minute. The watch is available in two materials: aluminum case and titanium case, with the titanium material replacing the existing stainless steel case.
The internal semiconductor has been replaced by the S10 SiP (system in package), which focuses on improving performance and power efficiency. The watch also features a new speaker, allowing users to play music directly through the Apple Watch speaker without connecting earphones.
The Apple Watch Series 10 also features improved functions related to water and underwater activities, including depth sensors and water temperature sensors. The watch can automatically detect strokes or record laps while swimming.
A sleep apnea detection function has been added, although it is unclear whether this feature will be supported in Korea. The Apple Watch Series 10 is expected to appeal more to users of Series 6 and below models, rather than previous generations.
Apple has maintained a formulaic launch strategy of changing the product design every three generations of the Apple Watch. While the Apple Watch Series 10 has enough appeal, it may not be enough to attract demand for a replacement from previous generations of users.
