Establishing a⁣ Joint​ AI Research Platform:⁤ Korea and the US Unite‌ in New York

A groundbreaking joint research platform for ​artificial intelligence (AI) ‍has been launched in New ⁤York, USA,​ marking a significant collaboration between ⁢Korea and the United States. The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) have jointly established the ‘Global AI Frontier Lab’, a hub for innovative AI research and development.

The Korean government⁢ has committed to providing ‌approximately 45 billion won⁢ in research ​and development budget over the next five years, starting this year. During the press conference, Professor LeCun shared his insights on ​the current state of AI investment, expressing concerns that government-led initiatives may⁢ not be as​ effective⁤ as investments made by big tech companies. He noted that while countries like France and ⁤the United Arab Emirates are investing heavily in AI technology development, they may not be as competitive‌ as major ⁤tech corporations.
