Revolutionizing Community Engagement: Ulsan Forum Launches on 25th, Bringing Choi Tae-won’s Vision to Life

■ This is the third year since it started in 2022 at the suggestion of SK Chairman Choi Tae-won to solve regional issues.

■ It will be used as a venue to present new technologies such as AI and DX that can be applied to Ulsan manufacturing and new regional models.

The ‘Ulsan Forum’, proposed by SK Chairman Chey Tae-won to create a platform for solving social problems, is now in its third year.

SK announced that it will hold the Ulsan Forum on the 25th at the Ulsan Exhibition Convention Center (UECO) in Ulju-gun, Ulsan under the theme of ‘Pivoting Ulsan: Creating with Technology and Culture.’

The Ulsan Forum was started in 2022, the 60th anniversary of the founding of SK Innovation, at the suggestion of Chairman Choi Tae-won to discuss the future of the Ulsan region, the birthplace of the company. Along with the Icheon Forum, it has become a representative forum for resolving social issues for the SK Group.

The Ulsan Forum, co-hosted by SK and the Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Presidential Committee on Local Governments, Ulsan Metropolitan City, Ulsan City Council, Ulsan University, and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST), is attended by Ulsan region government offices, companies, academia, and community members both online and offline.

This forum is expected to be attended by approximately 300 people, including Ulsan Mayor Kim Du-gyeom, Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Lee Yun-cheol, Ulsan University President Oh Yeon-cheon, as well as SK Group members including Chairman Choi Tae-won and SK Innovation President Park Sang-gyu.

In addition, this year’s forum will be held under the theme of ‘Pivoting Ulsan, Creating with Technology and Culture’, and will consist of two sessions: ▲Smart Manufacturing, the Future of Next Manufacturing ▲New Regions, Harmony of Culture and Environment, with keynote speeches, case presentations, and panel discussions.

In particular, it is expected to be a place to share new technology application solutions such as AI (Artificial Intelligence) and DX (Digital Transformation) in the Ulsan manufacturing industry and to present a new regional model for the future by adding cultural and environmental content to the industrial city of Ulsan.

The Ulsan Forum, which started in 2022 with the theme of ‘ESG, Opening the Future of Ulsan’ (social value of local community, green growth), was held in 2023 with the theme of ‘ESG, Creating the Future of Ulsan Together’ (youth happiness, changes in the industrial capital, ESG Next Strategy for shared growth).

An SK official said, “This year will be an opportunity to find specific answers to solve regional issues in Ulsan,” and added, “To this end, we hope this will be an opportunity to present a new regional community model by approaching it from various perspectives, including technology, culture, and the environment.”
