Kia Partners with 42dot and Geotab to Develop Advanced PBV Management System
Kia Corp has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with 42dot and Geotab to develop a cutting-edge management system for purpose-built vehicles (PBVs).
The primary objective of this collaboration is to create a cloud-based Fleet Management System (FMS) that enables real-time vehicle management using data, eliminating the need for additional devices.
Key Features of the System
The system will be integrated into Kia’s first dedicated PBV, the PV5, scheduled for mass production in 2025.
42dot, the software unit of Hyundai Motor Group, will be responsible for developing core vehicle software, while Geotab will provide connected vehicle services in 160 countries.
The partnership also involves the development of a driver application that suggests the best possible routes and promotes safe driving, which can be integrated into Kia’s PBV displays.
Streamlining Fleet Management
Fleet management systems are commonly used by companies operating large fleets of vehicles, such as car rental companies and logistics operators.
Existing systems often require separate devices to collect vehicle data, but the new cloud-based FMS aims to simplify the process, making it more efficient and cost-effective.
