Revolutionizing Mobile Filmmaking: iPhone 16 Pro Set to Unleash 4K 120 FPS Video Recording, with 8K Capabilities on the Horizon
Apple iPhone 16 Pro: Enhanced Video Recording Capabilities and New Camera Features
According to a recent report by 9to5Mac, citing a reliable source, the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 Pro is expected to boast impressive video recording capabilities, including the ability to record 4K video at up to 120 FPS. This is a significant upgrade from the iPhone 15 series, which can only record 4K video at 60 FPS.
Furthermore, Apple has reportedly tested the possibility of 8K video recording on the iPhone 16 Pro, although it is unclear if this feature will be enabled. The new iPhone 16 Pro is also expected to be equipped with a new 48MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, which supports 8K video recording at the hardware level.
The 48MP main camera and ultra-wide-angle sensor on the iPhone 16 Pro both support 8K video recording, but the 12MP telephoto sensor does not. However, considering that the iPhone 17 Pro Max is equipped with a 48MP telephoto sensor, 8K video recording may be exclusive to the Pro Max or may be introduced in future models.

In addition to enhanced video recording capabilities, the iPhone 16 Pro’s native camera app is expected to support new features, including pausing and resuming video recording, removing video wind noise, and providing a variety of new photography styles. The camera app will also retain skin color through machine learning and support lossy and lossless photos in JPEG-XL format. The multi-function camera button will be adapted to third-party applications, and a new mode for capturing spatial photos that can be viewed in 3D on Apple Vision Pro will be introduced.
