Revolutionizing Mobile Tech: Samsung’s AI-Powered Smartphone Takes Aim at Apple and Huawei
Global Wearables Market Heats Up: Samsung Challenges Apple and Huawei
Competition in the global wearables market is intensifying as Apple announces the Apple Watch 10 alongside the iPhone 16. Samsung Electronics, a leader in AI smartphones with the Galaxy AI, is challenging Apple and Huawei in the wearables market with the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Fit.
The Apple Watch 10 boasts a lighter and thinner design, with a 10% thinner aluminum case and a 20% lighter titanium case compared to its predecessor. The display is also 30% larger than the previous model.
Additionally, the Apple Watch 10 features improved charging speed, allowing for 8 hours of use in just 15 minutes during the day, and 8 hours of sleep monitoring with 8 minutes of charging at night.
Health features include sleep apnea monitoring, which analyzes breathing disorder data every 30 days and notifies the user if signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea are detected.
Samsung Electronics’ Wearables Strategy
Samsung Electronics ranks first in the global smartphone market and AI phone market. However, in the global wearables market, it is being outpaced by Apple and Chinese brands.
To counter this, Samsung Electronics plans to target the global wearables market with the introduction of the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. The company has already started targeting the low-end smartband market with the launch of the Galaxy Fit 3.

Samsung Electronics is also diversifying its wearables portfolio by launching the “Galaxy Ring,” a wearable device with a new form factor that can be connected to Galaxy smartphones.
The company plans to leverage AI to strengthen the connection between Galaxy wearables and Galaxy AI. The new Galaxy Watch series and Galaxy Buds 3 series have already demonstrated this integration.
Park Heon-soo, head of the digital health team at Samsung Electronics’ MX division, emphasized the company’s commitment to comprehensive and personalized health management through its wearables portfolio.
The Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra feature a sleep apnea function approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The AI sleep algorithm supports more accurate sleep measurement.
Samsung Electronics also plans to introduce an extended reality (XR) platform to compete with the Apple Vision Pro. Roh Tae-moon, president of Samsung Electronics’ MX division, hinted at the new XR platform’s release this year.
A Samsung Electronics official stated that the company is exploring ways to maximize the advantages of its ultra-compact form factor, which can track and manage health information in the simplest way.
