Revolutionizing On-Camera Monitoring: ATOMOS Unveils Groundbreaking Update for Shinobi II at IBC2024

Revolutionizing On-Camera Monitoring: ATOMOS Unveils Groundbreaking Update for Shinobi II at IBC2024

September 15, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Entertainment

At IBC2024, which will be held in Amsterdam from September 13 to 16, 2024, ATOMOS announced the main new features of its photo/video monitor “Shinobi II” (booth number: 11.D25). For the first time in the world, touch autofocus and subject tracking functions on the monitor have been realized in both photo and video camera modes. The camera models that will initially support this function are Sony (α7 IV), Canon (R6 Mark II), Panasonic (S5 II), and Fujifilm (GFX100 II). Nikon will also be supported in photo and video modes, and autofocus and subject tracking will be supported in a future update.

Jeromy Young, CEO of Atomos, commented:

Young: This is the beginning of a monitor revolution.

Now you get intuitive control on large monitors from all major camera manufacturers.

The Shinobi II is the latest addition to Atomos’ monitor line, slimmer than its predecessor, with a bright 1500nit touchscreen display and highly requested features like the ability to control the camera’s white balance, ISO, shutter speed and aperture via USB-C.

Young: Shinobi II has been a huge success since its launch at the end of July 2024, and it’s been challenging to continue keeping up with the surging demand.

It’s great fun to engage with thousands of users online. Photo control and touch autofocus were the most requested features, so we got to work on them right away.

Being able to support the most popular models from six manufacturers so quickly is a tremendous achievement, and we’re not stopping there – more free updates are on the way.

Atomos’ partnerships are a great strength for us, and we’d like to extend our sincere gratitude to Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Nikon and Fujifilm.
