Recently, the Animal Husbandry Party Branch of the Gaochun District Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau carried out publicity and consultation activities on laws and regulations for animal epidemic prevention against canine rabies and other zoonotic diseases at the Guchengwan Scenic Area Plaza in Hebin Community, Chunxi Street.

At the event site, six popular science publicity boards focusing on the introduction of rabies prevention and control knowledge were particularly eye-catching, with rich content and novel formats. At the same time, on-site staff actively publicized laws and regulations such as the “Animal Epidemic Prevention Law of the People’s Republic of China”, “Jiangsu Province Animal Epidemic Prevention Regulations”, “Nanjing Municipal Animal Epidemic Immunization Regulations”, as well as knowledge about the hazards and prevention and control of rabies to the public. More than 300 copies of materials such as “A Letter to Dog Breeders” and “Seventeen Questions on Rabies Prevention and Control” were also distributed.

This event provides a “one-stop” free vaccination service. From the entry of the dog to the safe departure, the whole process is standardized: clinical health examination → immune registration → vaccination → issuance of immunity certificates and tags → safe departure after 15 minutes of observation .

This event was coordinated at the city, district, street, and community levels, with careful organization and close cooperation, and various forms of publicity. It not only broadens the ideas and cooperation models for dog prevention, but also popularizes animal epidemic prevention laws and regulations and rabies prevention and control knowledge, improves the people’s awareness of rabies prevention and control, and improves the people’s quality in applying for dog licenses and raising dogs in a civilized manner.

The main person in charge of the Gaochun District Animal Disease Prevention and Control Center said that in the future, Gaochun District will continue to promote the prevention and control of key zoonotic diseases such as rabies and consolidate the foundation for animal husbandry production safety, animal product quality and safety, public health safety and biosafety. Make full use of the opportunity of centralized immunization in spring and autumn and supplementary immunization in summer to carry out centralized rabies immunization for rural dogs. Efforts will be made to increase the rabies immunization density of rural dogs by entering villages and households and setting up sites in agricultural-related communities.
