Revolutionizing Remote Production: Live Media Group Holdings Unveils Cutting-Edge REMI Video Service at TNDV HQ
Live Media Group Holdings Expands REMI Capabilities with New Production Control Room
Live Media Group Holdings (LMGH), a leading provider of HD and 4K production trucks, technical expertise, and control rooms, has established a new production control room at TNDV’s Nashville headquarters. This state-of-the-art facility is designed for REMI (Remotely Moved Integration) workflows, enabling remote high-resolution video capture and centralized production.
The new control room is part of LMGH’s efforts to meet the growing demand for REMI solutions, which has increased significantly during the pandemic. By integrating advanced technology and ensuring strong connectivity, LMGH aims to provide high-quality, low-latency production while reducing costs and logistical challenges.
REMI Production: A Cost-Effective Approach
REMI production allows broadcasters and content creators to capture live, high-resolution video at remote event locations and transmit it back to a centralized production and distribution facility with extremely low latency. This approach eliminates the need to set up or build a complete production suite at a remote location, or send skilled technicians to handle the event.
“With REMI, we can deliver high-resolution camera feeds from the remote location via IP and/or satellite, where our deep pool of local talent can handle the work,” said Rob Devlin, President of TNDV. “This cost-effective approach can significantly save on airfare, hotel, and other travel expenses, and simplify complex logistics.”
Technical Decisions
The production control room is based on the Ross Video Ultrix Acuity platform, equipped with Ross XPression for real-time graphics creation, and integrates the Ross Acuity software-defined production engine, 4 M/E switcher cards, Ultrix mix routing, and multiviewer capabilities. The suite also provides an adjacent independent area for mixing digital audio and generating EVS-based sports replays and highlights.
TNDV’s facilities offer robust, reliable fiber-based high-speed internet and satellite uplink connections. To this infrastructure, TNDV added the Haivision Makito X4 HEVC encoder, which enables secure and reliable transmission (SRT) of ultra-low latency 4K/UHD and HDTV high dynamic range (HDR) contribution video.
Expanding REMI Services
While the primary target is live sports, LMGH expects to work on projects from music festivals and other live entertainment events. The REMI control room first went into operation in February 2024, producing a series of women’s softball games for Athletes Unlimited.
“With our new REMI service, we can now work with our media and entertainment clients in any way they like,” said Devlin. ”Live production will never completely go away, but in an age where many networks are hungry for content, using a REMI workflow helps deliver high-quality productions efficiently and at a lower cost.”
