Revolutionizing Research: Kookmin University Joint Research Center Unveils State-of-the-Art Experimental Animal Facility
Kookmin University Opens Experimental Animal Center
The Joint Equipment Center of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation of Kookmin University (President Seung-ryeol Jeong) has announced the opening of the Experimental Animal Center on the 5th floor, room 504 of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Building on August 22, marking the beginning of full-scale operation.
The opening ceremony was attended by esteemed guests, including Vice President for Academic Affairs Kim Hyeong-jin, Vice President for Planning Son Jin-sik, and Director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group Lee In-hyeong. The ceremony included a report on the progress of the establishment of the Experimental Animal Center by Professor Heo Gyun of the Department of Biomedicine and the person in charge of operations, an unveiling ceremony, a commemorative photo shoot, and a tour of the facilities.
The Experimental Animal Center is a state-of-the-art facility that provides comprehensive support from laboratory animal breeding to observation and analysis for life science and biomedicine researchers within the university. The center consists of a breeding room, anterior chamber, treatment room, animal equipment room, and washing room, and is equipped with cutting-edge equipment such as laboratory animal fluorescence image analyzers, frozen sections, and biochemical analyzers.
Kookmin University plans to systematically support laboratory use, breeding management, quarantine, and introductory education for rational and efficient animal experiments by researchers in the future, and secure the accuracy and reliability of animal experiments. To this end, the university invited three current experts to hold a ‘Laboratory Animal Center Equipment Seminar’ from August 12 to 21, providing education on the functions and usage of major equipment used in breeding, observation, and analysis of laboratory animals.

Kim Dae-jung, director of the Joint Research Center at Kookmin University, stated, “The Laboratory Animal Research Center is an essential research facility for life science and biopharmaceutical research and will be a new turning point for researchers at the university.” He added, “We will systematically support the ethical and scientific management of laboratory animals as well as the continued creation of innovative research results.”
