Nature provides examples of successful perception without light. For instance, bats use sound waves to navigate, and sharks detect electrical fields from prey.
What is PanoRadar?
Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania created PanoRadar. This system transforms radio waves into detailed 3D images, combining the strengths of radio signals and visual sensors. Mingmin Zhao, a lead researcher, stated that they aimed to merge the reliability of radio waves with the detail of visual sensors. This has opened new possibilities in robotic perception.
How PanoRadar Works

The research team trained the system to understand complex data, allowing it to recognize objects in real time.
