Korea University of Technology Joins ‘Robot Vocational Education Center Construction Project’

Korea University of Technology (KUT) has announced its participation in the ‘Robot Vocational Education Center Construction Project’ hosted by Hanyang University ERICA. This project is being carried out with support from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Robot Industry Advancement Institute.

The project aims to foster practical talent in the field of robot SI (System Integration) in line with the rapid growth of the domestic robot industry. A total of 25.9 billion won will be invested in Gyeonggi Techno Park and Hanyang University ERICA Campus to establish the largest robot vocational training center in the country.

As a participating institution in this project, Korea National University of Technology will play a crucial role in developing and operating practical education programs and establishing educational infrastructure. The university possesses know-how in intelligent robot education and research through convergence and collaboration infrastructure as well as in the field of robotics.

Korea National University of Technology will operate manufacturing robot SI education for manufacturing companies and unemployed trainees in industrial complexes. The university will also play a role in discovering local education demanders and provide hands-on training using approximately 150 pieces of cutting-edge equipment, including autonomous robots and AI equipment. This is expected to produce approximately 1,140 robot SI practitioners annually.

The university plans to actively support students’ field training and internship programs through close cooperation with robot-related companies located in Gyeonggi Province. Employment support activities linked to this will also be carried out.

A Korea University of Technology official emphasized, “We will further strengthen education and research in the robotics field required by the industry by utilizing the infrastructure of Korea University of Technology. We will play a key role in the development of the domestic robotics industry as well as the regional one.”

The Robot Vocational Education Center will be operated for five years by a consortium of Hanyang University ERICA, Korea University of Engineering, Gyeonggi Technopark, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, and Korea Robot Industry Association. The center is expected to become the best robot vocational education center in Korea with a total floor area of 5,439㎡.

Korea National University of Technology is a university established with funding from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
