General Motors and Hyundai Motor Company Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Comprehensive Cooperation

General Motors (GM) and Hyundai Motor Company have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on key strategic areas, aiming to reduce production costs, increase efficiency, and provide a diverse range of products to customers.

The partnership will focus on joint development and production of passenger and commercial vehicles, internal combustion engines, green energy technologies, electricity, and hydrogen. Additionally, the companies will explore integrated sourcing of battery raw materials, steel, and other materials.

The collaboration will also involve developing capabilities based on flexibility and agility, enabling the companies to respond quickly to changing market demands.

Enhancing Efficiency and Competitiveness

According to GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra, “This partnership has the potential to make product development more efficient through structured capital allocation. By leveraging our complementary strengths and capable organizations, we will use our scale and creativity to provide competitive products to our customers more efficiently and quickly.”

Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun added, “Through this partnership, Hyundai Motor Company and GM will be able to explore opportunities to strengthen competitiveness in major global markets and vehicle segments. By combining our expertise and innovative technologies, we will increase efficiency and improve customer value.”
