RFK Jr. and Javier Milei Discuss WHO Alternative, Chainsaw in Tow
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., now heading U.S. health agencies, met with Argentine President Javier Milei to explore establishing a new global health organization. This alternative would compete with the World Health Organization (WHO), Kennedy said Tuesday.
The meeting gained attention online, largely due to photos showing Kennedy holding Milei’s chainsaw, a symbol of the president’s austerity policies. Milei, frequently enough photographed with the chainsaw, has made it a trademark of his governance.

Kennedy’s meeting with Milei follows President Trump’s move to withdraw the U.S. from the WHO. Milei mirrored this decision in February. The two leaders aim to create a “gold-standard” health system, kennedy stated, free from “totalitarian impulses, corruption, and political control.”
Kennedy has recently implemented changes within U.S. health agencies, including personnel changes and policy shifts. he has also criticized established medical journals, suggesting U.S. scientists should publish in alternative journals.
“I had a marvelous meeting with Argentine President @Jmilei about our nations’ mutual withdrawal from the WHO and the creation of an alternative international health system based on gold-standard science and free from totalitarian impulses, corruption, and political control,” Kennedy said.
What’s next
It remains to be seen how this proposed alternative health system will develop and weather it will gain international traction.
