Mark Geier, now an HHS employee, is again seeking access to the CDC’s Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) data, raising concerns about data security and potential conflicts of interest.Geier, whose previous access was twice revoked, aims to reanalyze thimerosal data to support a link to autism and investigate alleged CDC corruption.
The request for VSD data, reportedly facilitated by Kennedy through NIH researchers, has caused alarm among CDC officials and healthcare sites involved in the project. Their primary concern revolves around safeguarding private patient data.
Geier’s history with the VSD data is checkered. In 2004, the CDC terminated his access after determining he misrepresented his research plans. A similar ban followed in 2006.
Kennedy defended Geier at a may hearing, alleging “monkey buisness” with the VSD and portraying Geier as the onyl self-reliant scientist capable of detecting data alterations. Kennedy also falsely claimed a court awarded Geier $5 million after overturning a medical board finding.
While a Circuit Court initially sided with geier in a lawsuit against the medical board regarding a cease-and-desist order, this decision was overturned on appeal in 2019. The lawsuit stemmed from allegations that Geier improperly prescribed medication while his medical license was suspended.
