Tito Jackson, Older Brother of Michael Jackson, Dies at 70
Tito Jackson, an original member of the legendary American boy band “Jackson Five” and the older brother of world-famous pop star Michael Jackson, has died at the age of 70.
According to AFP, on the 16th, American guitarist and singer Tito Jackson died the day before (the 15th), local time, his son reported.
Tito was reported to have died of a heart attack the previous day while driving from New Mexico to his home in Oklahoma.
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved father, Tito Jackson, is no longer with us,” Tito’s son posted on Instagram along with a photo of himself with his father.
“We were shocked and saddened. “My father was a man who cared about everyone and their well-being,” she said. “I remember what my father always taught me: ‘Love one another.’”
Legacy of the Jackson Five
Tito formed a family group called the Jackson Five with his brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael. They gained global popularity in the 1960s and 1970s releasing several songs such as “I Want You Back”, “ABC” and “I’ll Be There”.
Tito was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 along with his Jackson Five brothers.
Recent Performances and Personal Life
Tito has recently performed in Germany, England and California under the name The Jacksons with Marlon and Jackie.
Survivors include three children. His wife died in 1994.
