On May 16, 2026, at 10:15 p.m., a Richmond Station sergeant assisted U.S. Park Rangers and U.S. Park Police in dispersing a large crowd at Ocean Beach.
The operation took place at the Ocean Beach parking lot, where loitering and parking are illegal during evening hours. Authorities noted that large crowds congregating in the beach and parking lot areas after hours have been linked to incidents of violence and vandalism.

The 17-year-old suspect attempted to flee after being told to contact a parent or responsible adult. The sergeant detained the minor, who was subsequently cited and released to his father.
one of the 18-year-old subjects was identified, cited, and released.
