Kamil‍ Concedes Jakarta Gubernatorial⁣ Race, Wishes Success to Anung

Former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil and his running mate Suswono have accepted defeat in the Jakarta gubernatorial election, paving ​the way for rivals Pramono Anung ‍and Rano Karno to​ take⁣ the helm of Indonesia’s capital.

kamil, speaking at a press ⁢briefing in Jakarta on friday, acknowledged the⁢ results announced by the ‌Jakarta Elections Commission (KPU) and expressed his decision to accept the‌ outcome.

“After careful consideration, we have ​decided to accept⁢ the‍ results of the Jakarta gubernatorial election as announced by ‍the KPU,” Kamil stated.

The​ former​ governor admitted that his team had initially ‌considered contesting the results with the Constitutional Court, citing gathered evidence.​ However,​ after consulting with experts and leaders of the ⁢Onward Indonesia‍ coalition (KIM), which nominated ⁢them, Kamil and Suswono decided ‍against pursuing legal⁤ action.

“We didn’t‌ want to further burden the people of Jakarta with ⁢another legal challenge,” Kamil explained.

Kamil extended his congratulations to Anung ‌and Karno, wishing them success in leading Jakarta for the⁢ next five years. ‍He also expressed gratitude to independent candidate pair Dharma ‌Pongrekun and ‌Kun Wardana for their participation ⁤in the election.

Reflecting on the⁤ campaign, Kamil emphasized the valuable lessons‍ learned⁣ and ⁤the importance of the experience‍ in​ his political career.

“We’ll ‌return to our families and⁢ rest after⁣ such an exhausting period,” Kamil said, reaffirming his commitment ‌to serving⁢ the nation.

The⁣ jakarta ​KPU announced ‍last Sunday that Anung secured a decisive‍ victory with 50.07 percent of​ the total valid ⁣vote ⁣in the November 27th⁣ poll. Kamil trailed behind with 39.4 percent, while Dharma Pongrekun garnered 10.53 ‍percent.
