Ringo Starr Confirms Barry Keoghan as His Portrayal in Sam Mendes’ Upcoming Beatles Films
Ringo Starr has confirmed that Barry Keoghan will portray him in Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles movies. Mendes is set to direct four films, each focusing on a different member of The Beatles.
In February 2024, the announcement about these films was made. Mendes is well-known for directing notable films like Skyfall and 1917. There has been speculation about various actors, including Paul Mescal and Barry Keoghan, being considered for roles.
During an interview with ET Tonight, Starr expressed his approval of Keoghan as his cinematic counterpart. He mentioned, “Well, I think he’s great and I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons.” Starr humorously noted that he hopes Keoghan isn’t taking “too many” lessons, emphasizing that drummers should develop their own style.
Mendes will direct and produce the films along with Pippa Harris and Julie Pastor from Neal Street Productions. Jeff Jones from Apple Corps Ltd. will act as an executive producer. The films will be distributed by Sony Pictures.
Mendes stated, “I’m honored to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time.” Harris added that the project aims to provide a unique cinematic experience by telling a single story from four different perspectives. This collaboration has been met with enthusiasm from Sony Pictures.
