Incheon City to Host 29th World Korean Economic Conference Next Year
Incheon City has successfully secured the hosting rights for the 29th World Korean Economic Conference, set to take place next year. This prestigious event is the largest economic gathering for overseas Koreans, attracting approximately 3,000 Korean businessmen from around the world to share diverse business information and strengthen networks.
The World Korean Economic Conference is hosted by the World Korean Traders Association (World OKTA) and sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Overseas Koreans Agency. Since its inception in 1996, the conference has been held every October, alternating between overseas and domestic locations.
World OKTA is a Korean economic organization established in 1981, with the primary goal of promoting economic development and trade in the mother country and creating a Korean economic community. The organization boasts 148 branches in 70 countries worldwide, with approximately 7,000 regular members and 28,000 next-generation members.
Incheon City was selected as the optimal location for next year’s event following a thorough on-site inspection, which highlighted its excellent international accessibility, diverse industries and infrastructure, international business environment, and rich event experience.
The 29th World Korean Economic Conference will feature various sessions, business matching, exhibitions, economic forums and conferences, and cultural events. The city expects this event to support domestic companies’ overseas expansion, increase Incheon City’s brand value, and contribute to the revitalization of the tourism industry and the growth of the local economy.
Incheon City is committed to successfully hosting the event and solidifying its position as a global economic hub. To achieve this, the city plans to implement various support measures aimed at strengthening global competitiveness through networks with Korean businesspeople from around the world, and to continue to expand cooperation with relevant government agencies, private organizations, and companies.
Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok stated, “Next year’s World Korean Economic Convention will be an opportunity for Korean businesspeople from each country to get to know Incheon more closely and further promote Incheon’s development and global economic cooperation. We will do our best to prepare for a successful convention.”
The 28th World Korean Economic Congress is scheduled to take place in Vienna, Austria from the 29th to the 31st of next month. The Incheon City Investment Promotion Hall and the exhibition halls of 30 excellent food and consumer goods companies in the Incheon area will also be operated during the conference.
