Tesla CEO Elon Musk predicted that humanoid robots will outnumber people within the next 20 years.
According to Reuters on the 29th (local time), CEO Musk attended the 8th Future Investment Initiative (FII) conference held online in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on this day and said, “Humanoid robots will become widely distributed in the future, eliminating the need for humans by 2040.” “I think there is a high possibility that the number will increase,” he said. “The price per unit of a multi-purpose humanoid robot is expected to be around 20,000 to 25,000 dollars (approximately 28 to 35 million won).”
Reuters reported, “This is a prediction that the scale of humanoid robots distributed worldwide could reach 10 billion within the next 20 years.”
FII is an international non-profit foundation related to artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, education, and medicine, established in 2017 by Saudi sovereign wealth fund PIF. Tesla, which is preparing to launch the multi-purpose humanoid robot Optimus, is one of many companies competing in the global humanoid market.
