RiserUnited: Patriotic Apparel Company Honors American Values

Dallas-based RiserUnited, a new online clothing company, aims to let consumers “wear their values” with patriotic apparel that pays tribute to the American flag.
“We believe that when you rise for the flag,and you understand what the flag represents,it gives you a sense of gratitude,” said Alina Rubinshteyn,vice president of sales and brand engagement at RiserUnited. “It’ll help unite us.”
Launched on Flag Day in June 2024, the retail business has eight employees and sells a variety of men’s and women’s clothing, including shirts, hoodies, and fleeces. The company’s website also features household items like blankets and mugs that reflect its “spirit of liberty and freedom.”

Many riserunited clothing items feature a logo resembling both a flag and the hand-over-the-heart gesture used during the Pledge of Allegiance. Rubinshteyn noted that many products are “quietly patriotic.”
“We don’t scream with large images of eagles and flags,” she said. “We want it to be a [clothing] line that people can dress up, dress down … yet be grounded in gratitude when they catch a glimpse of the logo.”
Besides honoring the flag, RiserUnited emphasizes fabric quality and unique product design, Rubinshteyn said.

The company’s best-selling item is “The Greatest American Hoodie,” a gray hoodie offered in seven styles. Each style honors one of the four Iowa-class battleships of WWII: USS Iowa, USS New Jersey, USS Missouri, and USS Wisconsin. The hoodie is American-made from American-sourced materials and licensed by the U.S. Navy, according to Rubinshteyn.
“We like to highlight history whenever we can,” she said.
Steve Needham, RiserUnited’s founder, started the business after becoming frustrated with brands that support divisive rhetoric, Rubinshteyn said.
“There are a lot of disagreements, there’s discourse and there are protests,” she said. ”We just don’t believe that protests – which are one of our rights and freedoms – should be taken at the foot of the flag.”

While some RiserUnited products are fully American-made, the company outsources parts of its manufacturing. RiserUnited hopes to increase its production of American-made products,Rubinshteyn said.
