Rising Star of the Indomitable Lions: Célestin Bedzigui’s Quest for Cameroon Glory
Célestin Bedzigui, president of the Liberal Alliance Party (PAL), announced his candidacy for the 2025 presidential elections.
Celestin Bedzigui promised to ask Cameroon for a “unique mandate of sweeping and rebuilding”, thereby initiating a deep reflection on the country’s future.
An ambitious economic recovery
In an economic context marked by ongoing challenges, Célestin Bedzigui draws inspiration from the principles of the Keynesian school, founded by the English economist, John Maynard Keynes. This approach defends the idea that state intervention is essential to revive an economy in difficulty. Bedzigui is committed to promoting a “vigorous revival” in Cameroon’s economy through massive investments in the productive sectors. According to him, this strategy is essential not only to boost the economy, but also to reduce the rate of unemployment and underemployment, especially among young people.
Towards a new regional governance
Célestin Bedzigui does not hesitate to tackle the question of governance. He clearly positions himself in favor of creating regional states with elected governors and mayors, criticizing the current Jacobin model which, according to him, “has tested its limits”. By decentralizing power, he wishes to allow each region to adapt its policies according to its reality and specific needs, eliminating the dangers associated with the concentration of powers at the central level.
NOSO crisis resolution
Another central point of his project is the crisis affecting the North West and South West regions (NOSO). Célestin Bedzigui proposes, after his election, to organize the “Foumban 2 conference”, in order to renew and strengthen the republican contract between the English-speaking and French-speaking communities of Cameroon. He considers this initiative essential to establish a climate of peace and dialogue between the different parties.
The fight against corruption and improving governance
Transparency and the fight against corruption also take a prominent place in Bedzigui’s social project. It aims to give more power to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (CONAC), allowing it to take legal action against corrupt officials. For Bedzigui, good governance is an essential pillar for establishing a climate of trust between the government and citizens.
Nationalist heritage
By claiming the values of Cameroonian nationalists and paying tribute to notable figures such as Ruben Um Nyobe and Mongo Beti, Célestin Bedzigui tries to anchor himself in a rich and turbulent history. By paying his respects at Um Nyobe’s grave in Eséka, he hopes to strengthen his party’s image, especially in his electoral stronghold in the Lekié department, where he also serves as a deputy to Monatélé town hall.
A few months before the October 2025 presidential election, Célestin Bedzigui asserts himself as a candidate determined to bring new life to the Cameroon political scene, convinced that one mandate of resettlement is needed to transform the country. It remains to be seen whether the people of Cameroon will respond favorably to his call.
