Rita’s Bold Proposal in Palm Springs
On the ‘Begin Again’ podcast with Davina McCall, Rita dished on how she orchestrated the ultimate romantic moment to propose to her man. It wasn’t just anywhere either. The singer says it all went down in a hotel room in Palm Springs over the summer of 2022. The room was decked out with balloons and Rita’s favorite cake, she recalled.
“I just did the whole thing,” Rita said in a clip from the podcast. She described how she set the scene with thoughtful touches. She even had custom bands made, keeping them simple yet meaningful. “I didn’t want anything too flashy,” she explained. Then, in a move that left social media completely taken aback, Rita recalled getting down on one knee to pop the question!
Taika, assuming Rita had arranged a Valentine’s Day surprise for him, was totally caught off guard. But Rita, with her playful charm, quipped, “Oh no, if you’re gonna say no, I’m gonna have to take my clothes off!” It turns out that Rita didn’t need to take her clothes off… at least not because she was being rejected. Taika was all in, and they got married that same year.

Rita Recently Shared How She Considers Tika More Of Her Best Friend

“Taika and I are basically just best friends, and we wanted to just live in that element forever, I guess,” she said, emphasizing how their BFF vibes have kept their marriage strong.
