International Judo Masters Gather in Cangnan

The three-day 2024 East Asian Judo Championships kicked off in Cangnan, bringing together judo masters from East Asian countries and regions. Lu Weizhen, Vice Chairman of the Asian Judo Federation and President of the East Asian Judo Federation, announced the opening of the competition. Qiu Zhiqiang, member of the Standing Committee of the County Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda, attended the opening ceremony.

Competition Overview

A total of 111 judokas from 7 countries and regions participated in this event, with 7 competition levels for men and women, and hundreds of exciting duels. The Chinese Judo National Team sent 28 male athletes and 29 female athletes to participate in this competition.

At the competition site, athletes demonstrated their skills, using various techniques such as throwing, hugging, hooking, and pressing. They showed a high level of competition and good sportsmanship in the game, with every attack and defense intertwined with strength and wisdom. Athlete Insights

Qiu Zhirou of the Chinese Taipei team, who won the women’s 48kg championship, expressed her excitement after winning the championship. She credited her daily training for her success and hopes to achieve better results in the future. Zhang Wen, a player from Yueqing, Wenzhou, is set to participate in the competition the next day and is looking forward to achieving good results in her hometown.

Event Significance and Venue

Xie Guanghan, chief competition director of the Asian Judo Federation and chairman of the Executive Committee of the East Asian Judo Federation, highlighted the event as one of the highest-level judo events in Asia. He praised the competition venue and arrangements, expressing satisfaction with the event.

Cangnan’s Sports Development

The county party committee and county government have proposed to build a sports city, elevating sports to the strategic level of the county. This initiative includes 12 key sports facility projects with a total investment of 1.578 billion yuan, aiming to improve the quality of life through project construction. Cangnan has successfully hosted over 50 high-profile events, stimulating the vitality of the city with the charm of the events.
