PASADENA, calif. – Monterrey and River Plate fought to a 0-0 draw saturday in a tense Club World Cup Group E match at the Rose Bowl. Both teams remain in contention to advance to the knockout stage after the club world cup showdown.
Monterrey’s goalkeeper, Esteban Andrada, proved crucial, denying Franco mastantuono and Miguel Borja with key second-half saves. The Mexican side previously drew against Inter Milan.
River Plate’s Kevin Castaño was ejected in injury time after a second yellow card. The draw puts River Plate level on points with Inter Milan at the top of the group, while Monterrey trails by two points.
